Diagnostics are a key element in providing better, sooner, more convenient health care. Reducing waiting times for diagnostics will improve access and outcomes for patients in a range of areas, including cancer pathways, emergency department waiting times and access to elective surgery.
The goal of the NRSII is to support DHBs to provide high quality, timely and efficient radiology services for patients and health care professionals. The initiative will support all DHBs in achieving the Ministry of Health goals for CT and MRI of patients receiving their Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRUI) scan within 42 days of acceptance. The NRSII is supported through the principals outlined in the ‘Ministry of Health and National Radiology Advisory Group Service Improvement Workbook 2014’.
For more detailed information on the National Radiology Service Improvement Initiative please visit nrsii.hiirc.org.nz for NRSII resources. This is a private site for all DHBs participating in the initiative. It is a place where you can share documents, tools, links, videos and literature, as well as learn more about the initiative.
